Looking back to a few months ago, journaling and reading were a part of my everyday routine. Recently, life has been a little hectic and those activities have gotten lost in the mix.

I wanted to find ways to motivate myself and reintroduce mindfulness into my schedule. So, I figured, why not journal, read, and meditate while enjoying nature in the parks that North Phoenix has to offer.

Why Journaling At A North Phoenix Park Boosts Your Mindset

My time to journal used to be before bed. Instead of using journaling as a synopsis of the day every evening, I hope to make it more of a check-in during the day to break up busy days and get some fresh air or an activity for days I have more free time.

Sweetwater Park in North Phoenix: A Mindful Journaling Escape

Today I decided to spend some time at Sweetwater Park, off of 44th Street by Paradise Valley Mall. This park provided a lot of open grass areas and shade thanks to its abundance of trees.

There were also some picnic tables in case that’s more up your alley. Today ,I chose a table to do my journaling and then moved to the grass to unplug, read and just enjoy the sounds of nature.

Tips For Journaling Outdoors In Phoenix Heat

With summer having arrived already and temperatures only increasing from here, there are some things to prioritize when choosing a park. The biggest requirement is shade, shade, and more shade. Sweetwater came in clutch here and was very cool and comfortable when I arrived at around 10:30 am. I also brought ice water and a hat, so I was prepared for the sun.

Need a quick, on-the-go high protein meal before you head to the park? Read my blog about the high protein pancakes I made and how it turned out.

There is no question summer is hot/warmer and there are still plenty of trails or places to go to walk. Did you read my blog about the best walking spots in Phoenix?

Grab a water bottle, journal, and go enjoy a walk and some journaling time!

Journaling Prompts To Make The Most of Your Park Time

I still love a quick journal sesh before bed, but journaling during the day helps me incorporate more than just thought dumps from that day.

3 of my favorite journaling prompts

  1. Lists things I’m looking forward to
  2. Goals for the week (big or small)
  3. Favorite things at the moment – restaurants, coffee shops, walking spots, anything!
