This week, we want to introduce you to someone whose dedication truly makes a difference in Arizona, and North Phoenix specifically, Evan Short.

You might be asking what is Together Toward Tomorrow? This is our new series where we shine a light on the incredible people who make our community a better, more connected place to live.
Back to Evan. By day, Evan is a loving family man, great friend to those he knows, and IT Professional. But in his free time, he volunteers as the Director of Search Operations for Missing in America Network.
Their mission? To advocate for missing persons and their families, bridging the gap between loved ones and law enforcement during the most difficult of times.
The Mission of Missing in America Network
Evan’s commitment goes beyond words. He has spent years volunteering, helping hundreds of families find their loved ones. Each case tells its own story, sometimes a tragedy, sometimes a missing person who simply doesn’t want to be found.
Evan approaches every situation with genuine compassion and comforting words, helping families understand that sometimes their loved ones are safe, choosing to be apart for their own reasons.
Facing Challenges in the Search for Missing Persons
He’s also faced tough, dangerous situations, like searching for vulnerable individuals lost in the desert heat, rain, dust, and thunderstorms. These are people who don’t realize the danger they’re in, and Evan’s persistence is nothing short of heroic.
A Heartbreaking Case That Shows Evan’s Dedication
His most heartbreaking case involved an elderly woman who had been missing for 8 months. Her family had lost hope. But Evan didn’t give up. He tirelessly worked to find her, and in the end, her remains were discovered.
With sensitivity and care, he acted as the go-between for law enforcement and her family, giving them the closure they desperately needed. He even personally led the family to the site where her remains were found, providing a final act of compassion during a heartbreaking time.
