Genevieve’s journey into cake artistry began from a place of love and necessity. As a mother of a child with strict dietary restrictions, she became frustrated with the lack of beautiful and tasty cakes that her daughter could enjoy.

Undeterred, she dedicated over ten years to mastering her craft, transforming cakes from mere desserts into edible works of art. With her business, Heavy Petal Cakes, Genevieve now creates delicious, stunning cakes that celebrate life’s special moments.
Her commitment to spreading joy extends beyond her bakery—she volunteers her time and artistry with Icing Smiles, an organization dedicated to bringing happiness to medically complicated children and their siblings through beautifully crafted “WOW Cakes.” “Nobody should miss their special day… even if they are hospitalized,” Genevieve shares passionately.
Acts of Kindness: Delivering Joy and Building Friendships
One heartfelt story that exemplifies Genevieve’s impact is her work on a Jurassic Park themed cake for the sibling of a child on the spectrum, who also had many medical issues. This sibling had never had a chance to celebrate a birthday the way they deserved until Genevieve stepped in.
When she arrived to deliver the cake, the child’s mother and Genevieve immediately connected, nurturing a friendship that extended beyond cake. Another touching moment involved a little girl in the hospital whose birthday was approaching.
Her mother reached out with a simple yet powerful request she wanted a Wonder Woman cake. She told Genevieve that her daughter had faced so many challenges and that this cake was a message: she was a superhero in her own right. The result was more than a cake; it was a symbol of hope, strength, and love.
