Best Upscale North Phoenix Restaurants Worth the Splurge

Where To Enjoy Fine Dining, Steakhouse Classics, And Stunning Views In North Phoenix

Do you remember the TV show “The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous”? No matter what the economy looks like, the desire to enjoy an upscale restaurant experience never really goes away. And while Phoenix may not be San Francisco or Manhattan, when it comes to upscale dining, North Phoenix absolutely holds its own.

Recently, someone asked inside our Living North Phoenix Facebook Community Group what everyone’s favorite upscale North Phoenix restaurant is. I tallied the responses as best as I could (this isn’t U.S. Census data), and here’s what rose to the top.

Quick disclaimer: I’m not officially endorsing or recommending any of these restaurants, and a few may technically sit just outside strict North Phoenix boundaries. These are simply the most mentioned favorites from our local community.

So whether you’re craving a perfectly cooked steak, a glass of wine with mountain views, or a tableside Caesar salad experience, here’s what locals love.

Hands Down Favorite Upscale Restaurant in North Phoenix: Steak 44

With the most votes by far, the winner is Steak 44.

I’ve personally been once, and I’ll say this — it lives up to the hype. The service is polished, the menu offers a wide selection, the ambiance is refined but welcoming, and the food? Outstanding.

Yes, it’s pricey. Expect around $120+ per person if you’re enjoying a cocktail and a full meal. But if you’re looking for a true upscale North Phoenix dining experience, this one consistently delivers.

For many locals, it’s the go-to for anniversaries, business dinners, and celebrations.

A Local Classic With Views: Different Pointe of View

One of the Valley’s true historic restaurants made the list — and I love that.

Different Pointe of View, located at Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort, offers something many upscale restaurants don’t: unmatched panoramic views of the desert and city skyline.

The cuisine highlights Southwest flavors, and the sunset views alone make it worth the reservation.

If you’re a local looking for a staycation or hosting out-of-town guests in North Phoenix, this is a memorable dining experience that feels special without leaving the area.

A Phoenix Staple: Durant's

What would an upscale Phoenix restaurant list be without Durant’s?

North Phoenix or not, this is a Phoenix institution. Celebrities like Joe DiMaggio, Clark Gable, and John Wayne have dined here.

The experience is part of the magic. You enter through the back door and walk through the kitchen — instantly transported to a 1930s steakhouse vibe.

If you haven’t been at least once, it’s a must for any serious Phoenix dining enthusiast.

Scottsdale Fine Dining Near North Phoenix: Dominick's Steakhouse

Dominick’s was another strong favorite.

Located at Scottsdale Quarter, it’s often compared to Steak 44 in both pricing and atmosphere. While technically in Scottsdale, many North Phoenix residents consider it part of their upscale rotation.

It’s consistently busy, attracts a lively crowd, and is known for its upscale steakhouse experience.

Honorable Mentions From the North Phoenix Community

Several other upscale restaurants received multiple votes:

  • Ocean 44
  • Ocean Prime
  • Mastro’s City Hall Steakhouse
  • Café Monarch
  • Binkley’s Restaurant
  • Orange Sky
  • Bourbon & Bones

I’ve personally been to Mastro’s and Café Monarch — and if you want ultra-upscale, Café Monarch is hard to beat. Just know you may be approaching $300 per person with wine.

Binkley’s is another local gem that food lovers rave about. If you’re looking for chef-driven fine dining in North Phoenix, it’s frequently mentioned as a bucket-list experience.
